No Child Left Behind

The "No Child Left Behind Act" of 2001 also known as (NCLB) was establish by George Bush, that all children should receive fair education in public schools. This act enables a promise that educating our children should not only be a priority but setting high standards and expectations to offer a good quality of education to all children than more then just basic skills. This would be done through federal funding and would require all government run schools to take yearly test to all students.

Now fast forward to Obama in office and revisions he would like to make to (NCLB). Obama contradicts himself from speeches he made during his campaign about (NCLB) to the new (NCLB) requirement waivers he now states.  The revisions would effect accountability requirements of (NCLB) that would change the law to now require states to test theirs students regularly versus annually. The results of those test would not be taken into such a high regard as it was in the past. Obama and his Administration think )NCLB) is too harsh with regards to test, school's failing or passing, the stress on the teachers and state and harsh sanctions. Obama says Congress has not fixed flaws to (NCLB) and he wants to take ownership and make these changes.

I selected this article due to the fact of more promises from Obama. I have friends who are teachers that are either unemployed due to lack of jobs in the field or struggling and purchasing school supplies out of their own pockets. You hear on the news how many cuts they are making in budgets and funding in all schools even at our own college. With all these changes in education and lack of funding how can (NCLB) really survive. It's essential education should be a right to every child to have the finest education. As education cost continue to grow, even for myself how if the federal government going to continue to fund (NCLB)? This is an important article to read for not only ourselves who are currently in school but for our future children.
