Comments - The Civil Report

The Civil Report delved straight into the topic of Obama and his promise
and goal to wipe the world free of nuclear weapons. The Civil Report did
remind the reader that Obama stated it would be an important objective to
reach. The Civil Report made it clear that before Obama’s promise could
happen, Republicans need to be onboard. I as the reader found it very
important that the Civil Report reflected that help was need and
cooperation of the Republicans. Both political parties needed to work
together. It gave the reader direction of what type of relationship
Democrats and Republicans have in order to make thing happen, both be in
agreement and what’s in it for me. I would have liked the Civil Report to
talk about the old agreement and new agreement more, especially in detail
of what the agreements have to offer and what exactly did Obama want to
ratify. This way either a reader with knowledge or without knowledge of
Obama’s plan would give us more insight on the topic. I myself was not
aware of Obama and his goal to rid the world of nuclear weapons. That is
why I chose this blog to learn about a topic I was not aware of. The Civil
Report made the reader aware of Obama’s promise to the Republican’s of
spending $100 billion to renovate the nations nuclear weapons facilities
for their cooperation. This makes the reader aware of what trades need to
be made between political parties, to get things done. The Civil Report did
research as to informing us the reader that Obama’s promise to the
Republicans would ensure a reduction of the nation’s nuclear stockpile. I
would have liked to read about what nations actually held nuclear weapons
and how Obama would, in steps establish this process of a world free of
nuclear weapons.
The Civil Report did a good job on informing their opinion about U.S.
wasteful spending and the waste of modernizing expensive nuclear
facilities. We could feel the writers annoyance and firm standing on
spending more billions. I agree with the Civil Report about using the money
on more important programs especially in this economy.

I was excited in reading the first sentence of this blog. I was
disappointed that the Civil Report did not go over, even briefly what the
old and new agreement entailed. I as a reader was looking for more
knowledge by reading this blog. I would have liked to see more comparisons,
statistics or facts on the issue. I do applaud the Civil Report’s
straightforwardness on how they felt about spending and the issue at hand.
I would have liked to read more about the nations that cause a real threat
to the U.S. The Civil Report mentioned North Korea and Iran but I was
looking for the reason why they cause a threat and the previous history
between the U.S. and those countries. I think talking about the
Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty would make the reader more knowledgeable of
the issue. All in all it was a good read and it was very clear on how the
Civil Report felt about the issue.

Critique - Civil Report, Obama's stance on a world free of nuclear weapons

The Civil Report delved straight into the topic of Obama and his promise

reach. The Civil Report made it clear that before Obama’s promise could

Newt Gingrich and his true relationship with Freddie Mac

Newt Gingrich is not new to media scrutiny but as a GOP Presidential
candidate it is no surprise that all of his skeletons are coming out for display in Newt Gingrich's and Freddie Mac real relationship. Newt Gingrich informed the public and voters that he was on
Freddie Mac’s payroll as a historian, but that still remains to be the big
question. Well the cat is out of the bag, in the eight years Newt Gingrich
has received between $1.6 million and $1.8 million from Freddie Mac. That
is a far cry from the $300,000 he originally informed the public. Both
parties have a different recollection of what exactly Newt Gingrich did for
the mortgage company. The housing collapse has affected us all in some way
or form and all the billions the government has injected back to Freddie
Mac, this is a very serious issue.

As voters Newt Gingrich has to tell us the truth on what he actually did
for Freddie Mac, instead of stalling us with smoke and nonsense. When Newt
Gingrich originally started as a consultant which Freddie Mac calls his
position there, he was receiving $25,000 to $30,000 a month to advise the
mortgage giant. Freddie Mac says Newt Gingrich was a consultant and
Gingrich interjects as being a historian, but one has to wonder what on
earth Mr. Gingrich could say or advise on to earn that much a month. The
amount boggles ones mind. Former Freddie Mac officials familiar with the
work Mr. Gingrich was hired to do state that Gingrich was hired and paid to
bridge the gap between Republicans in Capital Hill and develop an argument
on behalf of the company that would stop conservatives wanting to dismantle
their public private structure. Freddie Mac wanted conservatives support
and believed Mr. Gingrich could assist especially with his background of
being a House speaker. Newt Gingrich is insisting that he was not a
lobbyist for Freddie Mac and denies their version of events. Mr. Gingrich
is also stating he warned the mortgage giant about the housing bubble.
Gingrich defends himself and reiterates he has done no lobbying for Freddie
Mac and objects to their version of events.

There are no documents to show and prove who is telling the truth. What
role did Newt Gingrich have with Freddie Mac? Why was he earning such a fat
paycheck? I am sure there is a confidentiality agreement, so will we ever
know the truth. Mr. Gingrich should know by now that you can’t hide things
from the public. You are a public figure and the media will scrutinize your
every move. Gingrich is fighting to represent the Republican party in the
next general election, the truth is needed to assure voters your
credibility and that you are not hiding something as big as this. If Newt
Gingrich is serious about being the next President, he needs to come clean
now and tell the American people the truth, and he must do it now.

Critique - Obama's Federal Student Loan Reform

After reviewing several blog’s to decide which one to comment and critique on, I selected on Lauren’s Obama's Federal Student Loan Reform. This topic interested me the most due to the fact that I am a student who once I graduate will be paying back student loans.

This blog gave a very detailed explanation of Obama’s Federal Student Loan Reform program. Lauren gave exact details of what this plan proposed and explained the repayment plan easily for the reader to understand. The specifics she included on her blog delved into repayments, benefits, percentage of savings for an ex-student, consolidation and the time when the loan is dissolved. Lauren made a comment of how this program is not coming a minute too soon and backed up her statement by all the benefits she included in her blog.

I personally did hear about Obama’s plan but I as a reader learned more specifics of the plan by reading this blog. Lauren did a good job in making the reader enthralled at learning all major issues of this plan. The comparison between federal loans and private loans and how Obama’s plan would only pertain to federal loans. Lauren let the reader know that private loans are the ones that have higher interest rates, higher payments and less payment plans. The comparison really explains to the reader that this Obama’s plan might not be as good as it sounds. The figures how many students would be affected and percentage of savings is really appreciated to really show how many Americans this truly affects. This blog put in the forefront the true of Obama’s new plan as only treating the symptoms and not the real issue. I agree with Lauren that the true problem lies with tuition cost. This blog put the real issues in front of the readers eye’s and after reading it made you realize that Obama’s plan is not as exciting as it first sounded.

I enjoyed reading this blog. Student loans is one of the high problems for Americans especially how the economy is right now. This is a hot topic where even if Obama’s plan goes into affect, It will help a little. There needs to be something done with the high cost of tuition and a regulation on fees. It is crucial to obtain a college degree to find a good paying job but what good is that if you are paying high monthly payments each month to re-pay you student loans. I really liked how Lauren did the comparison between benefits and a broken down reality of what the programs truly means to us. It makes you think twice and she brought all points across and answered all my questions on her blog.

Obama's Plea to Congress....Get this Past

It comes to know surprise to discover Obama promoting his defunct jobs bill. I mean hey, the Senate and House passed on it and now he is hoping that Congress will take a second look and "do the right thing." Obama has been in office since 2009 and is still trying to resuscitate this economy. The unemployment rates are still staggering and he promised us CHANGE!
I am sorry but I have heard this all before. The country has a major deficient hanging over us and Congress is just suppose to say "yes" and pass this $447 billion dollar jobs bill. Is this Obama's take on resuscitating our economy and rebuilding our faith in him. The Republicans said he is a one term President. If you were going to make change and help this economy like you promised if you were elected, why now set up this bill to get people working? Shouldn't this have been your first priority like you promised.
Don't misunderstand me, we need to get people back to work but I am tired of these political games of more promises. Obama is voicing out to all middle class workers of putting people back to work and gaining employment. Well that is all fine and dandy but who is going to pay for this? When is this finally going to happen?
Then you have our Vice President shouting FEAR into the public that without this bill being passed, crime of rape and murder will increase. I think that is taking it to the extreme, I mean the economy has been in turmoil since 2007 and there were no job bills presented or passed until now. The Democrats like to put fear into the American people. They are now putting the blame and pressure on Congress to get this bill passed. Biden mentions taxpayers would be tax modestly and that taxpayers would not object. I object, more taxes taken out of my paycheck and this bill does that work. My message to Joe Biden "please don't speak for me."
They mention the wealthy will be taxed but why do the middle class, like myself always pay more takes than these millionaires they speak about. I for one am tired of the promises, speeches, and talking. Just get it done, rebuild this country and get America back to work like you promised us CHANGE in 2009. Obama says "no games, no politics, no delays." I say stop talking and help this country like you promised and prove yourself to not be a one-term President.

Ann Coulter Calling Out Democratic Spending

Ann Coulter is known for her very opinionated and very controversial talk, so it was not too surprising finding this commentary on her blog bashing Democrats one more time. After reading her blog One President Left Behind: McConnell Schools Obama on Debt it was another political view that Democrats do not want to save or cut any government spending. This is not a surprise Clinton, Edwards and now Obama has promised it to the public. I selected Ann Coulter's blog since she is known to say what she feels and does not hold back. Although her words or voice can be very controversial, I personally love her approach. Ann definitely stands by what she believes in and is not scared, she gets everyone's feathers ruffled. I can't help but to continuously remember Obama's promise of a better economy, just when we needed it the most. Obama stated more jobs, health care, energy and gas sufficient America and so much more. It is now 2011 and the economy has not gotten better, more homes have been foreclosed, unemployment rates are high in all states, and the future is looking very bleak. It illustrates the fact that Democrats are not cutting government spending and this will lead the country to bankruptcy and no efforts on the Democratic side show of saving.

Democrats are blaming the Republicans that it is their fault that they have not provided any proposals on spending cuts and bash the Republicans. This is an example of Democratic spending Obama gave a $500 million stimulus package to a Solar Company in Fremont, California called Solyndra LLC. This Company went into defunct and filed for bankruptcy. This proves Ann Coulter's point! Why didn't the Democrats do more research on this company? Why did they give them 500 million? Why not pay them in increments with process and success? To me this shows the fact of Democrats throwing money away without doing proper research on who they are giving the funds too. I know many other programs and Americans in need that $500 million could have helped. How about jobs? How about the unemployed? How about the homeless? Or students in debt with their financial aide and cannot find a job?

Ann Coulter is targeting the whole public, no matter what political party you favor. She is a lawyer and has worked with judges, government and government cases and issues. I for one believe her claims since she has experience of how things work. The blame game does not work for Ann Coulter who talks about Democrats running all branches on government, stating Democrats do have power to make a change in spending. She states while Obama is in office there will be more spending than saving and we are headed to a very bleak future ahead. The public think Republicans are the bad guy but I feel they are trying to do something about this deficit. Ann Coulter tells the reader that the Democrats are being called out on their spending and people are listening. Senator McConnell has called out Democrats and proposed a bill to raise the debt ceiling but to also proposed ways of how to cut government spending. Are the Democrats listening?

I for one selected Ann Coulter's blog since I have seen her on T.V. and heard her on the radio. I know her books are always on the best seller list. I admire her for one since she uses her voice and never back downs. She might be controversial but she likes to "stir the pot" to make people listen that this is happening in the government and the United States. I for one am considering just like she points out Greece.

Rick Perry Again.......

I wanted to locate an editorial about Texas or Texas government and I did not have to look far. This editorial caught my eye Political weight of Perry's rock. When you are Governor anything you say or do is under a microscope and put out in the media, but when you are trying to gain a Republican nomination for Presidency you are under a very fine microscope. The editorial illustrated just that, that no rock goes unturned no pun intended. The ideas of this editorial show any skeleton's in your closet with be found no matter how small or big it is.

Some highlights in this editorial are that this week big surprise, Perry is in the news again. The Washington Post reports that Perry and his Father leased a parcel in W. Texas of ranch land called or known as "Niggerhead." At the entrance of this hunting camp a big rock illustrates "Niggerhead." Since this is located in Perry's hometown he immediately responded that after leasing the land they painted over the rock. Others have stated Perry never painted over the rock and the rock continued to be visible even when guest and visitor's would occupy the land. Perry continues to stand by his claims and informs everyone he has not been to that camp since 2006.

My reasoning for picking this editorial is the title first caught my eye. Perry has been in the news more times than ever due to him wanting to be the next President. This editorial addresses how Perry has been declining in polls with decreasing numbers due to bad performances and stories that have currently been told to the public. With all campaigns he has been attacked due to his view and opinions on issues like illegal immigration. The author shows that this is not Perry's first time being called out as a racist. Perry has used racial language and images in the past to present a point. The author does let the reader know that Perry nor his Father actually owned the land but just leased the parcel. This will be debated again on how the public will react towards Perry when voting time does arrive.

The author wanted any reader to be aware of what is going on currently with Rick Perry. The intended audience can be anyone from Texas to all citizens due to him trying to win the Republican nomination. The author wants to keep the public informed. I believe the author is credible, they are reporting the facts of Perry and his Father leasing the parcel and what was painted on the rock. The fact that neither actually owner the property was accurate and fair towards Perry. The arguments that are faced with is what was actually done to the rock, was it painted over as Perry states? Or did the rock continue to be present for all visitors to see? The only evidence is the parcel was leased and not owned by the Perry's. There are concerns due to Perry's past racial language and images used to make a reader or viewer believe that Perry did nothing to that rock. I do not believe he is a racist due to all the immigration reforms and laws he is trying to create for immigrants.

It seems to me that the rock was painted with Niggerland prior to the Perry's actually residing in the land. What happened after if it was painted over or not is unknown. I agree with this author that Perry is under a fine microscope and every rock will be turned and all skeletons will come out of the closet. It still remains how favorable Perry is in this election due to these issues and attacks coming out. I agree with the author that Perry's number have declined and the reason are due to these stories. It seems to me that as more debates are in the future what else will be brought up. You can't hide thing forever, they always have a way of coming out.
